Unity Service - Sunday, February 19, 2006 5:00 PM
Eight years ago, Pastor Roy Plummer of Faith Tabernacle Community
Church (traditionally African/American) and Pastor Larry Biggers of
Northside Chapel (traditionally Euro/American) met in a Unity Service.
Even though their backgrounds were vastly different, their passion for
Unity in Columbus was the common ground for these two dedicated
Christian men. Since that first meeting, they have hosted a Unity
Service annually for the purpose of bridging racial and denominational
divisions. They believe that Unity begins in the heart, otherwise it
is only uniformity.
Join these two congregations and the One Columbus family on Sunday,
February 19, 2006 at 5:00 PM at Faith Tabernacle Community Church,
1603 Floyd Rd.
This one you shouldn’t miss.
One Columbus on WTVM
One Columbus segment on WTVM’s Newsleader 9 features Phenix
City’s Retiring Police Chief Preston Robinson. Cheryl Renee’s
interview with this 35-year veteran of the Police Department where he
has served as chief for 10 years is a revealing story of a committed
citizen who has done good work. Chief Robinson retires March 31,
2006.
Congratulations, Chief Robinson!
Dare to Dream Summit
The 2006 Dare to Dream Summit sponsored by the Leadership
Columbus
Alumni, One Columbus and the Muscogee County School District will be
held at the
Trade Center on Thursday, March 2, 2006 from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
The Luncheon, starting at 11:30, will feature internationally
acclaimed and respected
Joseph Sebarenzi, former head of the Rwandan Parliament, who has
endured tragedy and
genocide atrocities most of us cannot imagine. In 1994, he lost his
parents, seven siblings
and many other relatives in the Rwandan genocide. Yet, years later, as
a senior
government official in a position to exact revenge, he instead pushed
for peace and
reconciliation. Respectfully and with courage, Sebarenzi said "Revenge
is like adding
guilt to victimhood. It solves nothing. At some point, we have to
ignore the past and
envision the future."
This message of peace and reconciliation should not be missed!
Cost: $40 per person*
$300 for a table of 8
