History records
that New Years have been celebrated by Egyptians, Persians
and people in many lands as early as 2000 BC. These
celebrations were in months other than January. After 153
BC, the official date was January 1 – the date that we now
recognize as the first day of the New Year.
On December
31, 2006, millions will gather in houses of worship,
thousands in
Times Square and others
in homes with friends, relatives and loved ones to say
farewell to the old and welcome to the new.
The One
Columbus Family
prays that this New Year, like a new born child which is
placed in our hands, will be nurtured and loved with
kindness and respect, and as God’s gift to us, will be
used for His service.
May your New
Year be the best ever.
