2nd
Annual Golf Tournament a resounding success.
To the many
sponsors, contributors, golfers, visitors and guests, the One
Columbus board, Advisory Committee, Friends of One Columbus
and the Golf Tournament volunteer leadership wish to express
their sincere appreciation for the support given One Columbus
in this annual event. DJ Jones and Dale Williams did a superb
job of engineering this golf opportunity into a wonderful
family affair that has put another feather in the cap of One
Columbus. The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail is awesome! To one
and all, we thank you.

Corporate
Diversity
When you think
of Corporate Diversity, the first thing that comes to mind may
be "..race, creed, color or national origin." but Michelle
Cohen Marill's BREAKING DOWN THE LAST BARRIERS in the recent
issue of Georgia Trend magazine suggests that
businesses too often limit their vision of an inclusive
workplace to race and gender.
"Disability,"
she says "is the last bastion of bias in the workplace where
barriers can be as simple as the curb at the front door."
Marill's story
tells about some of the people who have disabilities and how
they have personally and professionally coped with these
challenges. She does suggest that advocates for the disabled
say many of the obstacles to their employment are surprisingly
easy to fix. It's the attitudes that are harder to change.
We agree.
In the
Our State section, you will find stories about the
Chamber's Becky Hardin, Uptown
Columbus'
Richard Bishop, Chamber President Mike Gaymon, City
Manager Isaiah Hugley, and Valley Partnership's Gary
Jones.
Its well worth
reading.

Rothschild
and Brantley honored at Race Relations Breakfast
Wednesday,
June 26 was the last Race Relations Breakfast until September
12, but it turned out to be a truly memorable event as David
Rothschild and Lee Brantley were honored for their work with
the Breakfasts.
Ann Caggins,
One Columbus' Bridge Builders chair, with the assistance of
Mayor Bob Poydasheff, presented plaques to both men. Pictures
of the event can be seen on the One Columbus website.
