RACE RELATIONS BREAKFASTS CELEBRATES 37TH YEAR
On Wednesday, December 12, 2007 the Columbus Race Relations Breakfasts celebrated its 37th year of providing a comfortable environment where issues of race and concerns of the community could be discussed in a comfortable and safe environment by members of the communities of Columbus, Phenix City and Fort Benning.

Lee Brantley, co-chair of the One Columbus board of directors and Manager of WTVM/WXTX television receive special recognition along with civic leader and long time supporter of education David Rothschild

The race relations breakfasts were started in 1989 by Dean William Arthur as a part of the Leadership Morality Institute and the LMI Board of Directors.  Its aim was to provide educational programs in ethical leadership.  Many of the community leaders believed deeply that a race relations dialogue could help Columbus avoid the violent confrontations that were rampant in the country in earlier years.  In 1992, the breakfast forums were formalized and have evolved into the Race Relations Breakfasts that meet on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at aa7:30 am except during the summer and end-of-the-year Holidays.
