Welcome to our first Items of Interest for 2008.  We've made a couple of minor adjustments that will make these brief but important pieces of information easier to manage.

Monday, January 7, 2008 - Voting in Georgia

Come Tuesday, November 4, 2008 this country will be participating in one of the General - Nonpartisan election that occurs every four years.  

But there are a series of important events that take place prior to the General Election in November.

The Presidential Preference Primary is scheduled for February 5 but you have to register to participate and 5:00 pm on Monday, January 7 is the deadline.

For those who have not registered, call Nancy Boren at the Office of Elections and Registration 706-653-4392 if you need help with the registration process.

Monday, January 7, 2008 - MIXER

 

Inaugurated in 2006 as a learning and volunteering opportunity for Columbus' citizens, the One Columbus MIXER takes place at 11:00 am in the ANNEX.  The calendar of events, the programs and information about the organization's mission and goals is provided in an interactive dialogue format.   Contact: Ann Caggins 706-568-1762

 

Wednesday, January 9 - Race Relations Breakfast

The first Race Relations Breakfast for 2008 will be Wednesday, January 9, at 7:30 a.m. at Ruth Ann's Restaurant on Veteran's Parkway.  You are encouraged to bring a friend with you to this first meeting of the year. January 24, 2008 - Recognition Dinner

The 4th Annual One Columbus Recognition Dinner will be Thursday, January 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the Columbus Ironworks and Trade Center.  The keynote speaker will be Morris S. Dees, Jr., Founder and Chief Trial Counsel for Southern Poverty Law Center, Montgomery, Alabama.  Tickets for this event are $40 and can be purchased at the following locations:
