Items of Importance

One Columbus Items of Importance 080808

Early in the morning and in the afternoon, yellow caution lights remind us that schools are now open and our precious cargo of youngsters are winding their way back to classrooms all across the Valley.  A few schools are operating on a year round basis, but it seems that the others are opening earlier and earlier each year. When we make international comparisons, this could be a good thing - we're still catching up when compared to other technologically advanced nations.  Never the less, if you've grown accustomed to driving the speed limit past empty class rooms and, because of habit, forget to slow down at the blinking lights, if the crossing guards don't flag you down with their STOP signs, and you end up with a speeding ticket, that's one you should be happy to pay. The kid you might hit could be your neighbor's.
