Fourth in the series
"Racial History of Columbus" series
The dialogue group
that meets on Tuesday, February 10, will be the last in the
series "Racial History of Columbus." Johnnie C. Warner, Jr,
president of the
Columbus Black History
Museum, will continue the discussion and seek some solutions to
some of the challenges that have evolved from the dialogue. A
summary of the previous sessions are posted on the website
www.onecolumbus.org
under "dialogue groups." Anyone in the community is welcome to
come.
The session begins
at 6:30 pm in the Library of the First Presbyterian Church
downtown. Enter the church on First Avenue across from the CB&T
parking garage between 11th and 12th
Streets.

BLACK
HISTORY EVENTS PLANNED
RiverCenter
sponsors two exhibits
In celebration of
Black History Month, the RiverCenter has two events that will
occur during this month. .
The first is a
photographic exhibit of the works of Charles "Teenie" Harris
entitled: Rhapsody in Black and White that will be
hanging in the main lobby of the facility until February 23. .
The 32 piece exhibit was assembled by the
August Wilson Center for
African-American Culture and is on loan from
Pittsburgh's Carnegie Museum of Art. This exhibit it free and viewable
during the RiverCenter's normal hours.
The second is a
performance by the Ronald K Brown: Evidence dance company.
Ronald K. Brown worked with the August Wilson Center on the
traveling exhibit and has choreographed a piece entitled
One Shot (Mr. Harris' nick-name - he was famous for
capturing his subjects in one shot.) which will be performed at
RiverCenter on February 17. Copies of the guide and a flyer can
be obtained from the RiverCenter for civic organizations and
churches who wish to help publicize this event.

Black History Museum
exhibit
Johnny C. Warner
has put up a special exhibit at the Black History Museum on 8th
Street in the District titled "Black America's Quest for
Citizenship" Pictures and artifacts display the
challenges that African Americans faced in their quest for
equality. The Museum is open Wednesdays through Sundays. For a

PBS documentary
"Eyes On The Prize"
Each Sunday at
4:00 pm during Black History Month beginning Sunday, February 8, the
Black History
Museum will show the documentary "Eyes On The Prize" followed by
open discussion.

Race Relations
Breakfast - Wednesday, February 11, 2009
This twice a month
dialogue session continues at Ruth Ann's on Veterans Parkway
beginning at 7:25 am with breakfast. You are encouraged to
invite associates and friends who may have differing opinions.
The dialogue is honest, but not confrontational. It's a
learning experience where no one has all the answers, but each
has something to contribute. $6.00 is asked of regular members.
