This dialogue group meets on Tuesday, February 24. Resource
materials from the website and discussions of the previous
sessions continue. A summary of former sessions are posted on
the website
www.onecolumbus.org under "dialogue groups." Anyone
in the community is welcome to become a part of this activity.

The session begins at
6:30 pm
in the Library of the First Presbyterian Church downtown. Enter
the church on
First Avenue across from the CB&T parking garage between 11th
and 12th Streets.

Wednesday, February 25th - Race Relations
Breakfast
Joey M. Loudermilk,
General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Executive Vice
President for Aflac will be the presenter for the eleventh in
the series "My Challenges With Race."
Joey has held many positions in executive leadership since
joining Aflac in 1983 after working in private law practice.
During his more than twenty five years with Aflac, he has served
in governmental relations, treasurer, corporate counsel, and
general counsel. In October 2000, he was promoted to executive
vice president. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the
American Corporate Counsel Association, and the American Society
of Corporate Secretaries. He also serves on the boards of the
Georgia Humanities Council, the Georgia Military Affairs
Coordinating Committee, and the Columbus Regional Medical
Foundation. He has served as president of the Rotary Club of
Columbus. Mr. Loudermilk holds a bachelors degree with honors
from Georgia State University and a juris doctor degree from the
University of Georgia School of Law.
The Race Relations Breakfasts are held at Ruth Ann's on Veterans
Parkway. Breakfast begins at
7:25am
and you are encouraged to bring a friend with you.

BLACK HISTORY EVENTS
Exhibit continues at RiverCenter
In celebration of Black History Month, the RiverCenter has a
photographic exhibit of the works of Charles "Teenie" Harris
entitled: Rhapsody in Black and White in the main
lobby of the facility until Monday, February 23. The 32 piece
exhibit was assembled by the
August
Wilson Center for African-American Culture and is on loan from
Pittsburgh's
Carnegie Museum of Art. This exhibit is free and viewable during
the RiverCenter's normal hours. Note: It ends Monday, February
23.

Mayor's Commission sponsors photographic art exhibit
A photographic art exhibit of
Columbus'
black pioneers, originally designed in 1990, has been taken out
of storage and is on display at the Main Library on
Macon Road
beginning
February 24, 2009.
The Mayor's Commission On Unity and Diversity sponsors this
exhibit of African Americans who helped make this city what it
has become. The exhibit ends March 1.

Black History Museum exhibit
Johnny C. Warner has put up a special exhibit at the Black
History Museum on 8th Street in the District titled "Black
America's Quest for Citizenship" Pictures and artifacts
display the challenges that African Americans faced in their
quest for equality. The Museum is open Wednesdays through

PBS documentary "Eyes On The Prize"
Each Sunday at
4:00 pm
during Black History Month beginning Sunday, February 8, the
Black
History Museum will show the documentary "Eyes On The Prize"
followed by open discussion.

Infuslon project
Vicky Partin, Missioner for CVEM and chair of Study Circles and
Youth for One Columbus is seeking support for Infusion,
CVEM's youth leadership program. The March 6 fund-raising
event should be a wonderful night with poignant drama, good food
serving the excellent causes of raising awareness of hunger and
supporting teenagers engaging community through service and
reflection.

"My Challenges With Race" celebrates anniversary
On March 25 One Columbus will celebrate the anniversary of the
special series of presentations by individuals who have shared
their experiences with race.
This anniversary will be a special moment in the history of the
Race Relations Breakfasts program.
