- First Presbyterian Dialogue Group
After the presentation by Tim Donovan, co-owner of Judicial
Alternatives of Georgia explained how his company operates
regarding probation services in Muscogee County, the group must
now wrestle with what action(s) to take regarding the probation
sytem.
There will be some effort to craft the dynamics of 'action' and
how the community organization process works.
The session begins at 6:30 pm in the
Museum of the First Presbyterian Church downtown. Enter the
church on First Avenue across from the CB&T parking garage
between 11th and 12th Streets.
NOTE: There will not be a meeting on April 7. After
March 31, the next dialogue group meeting will be on April 14,

TODAY Friday, March 27th - Seminar for
employers receiving dollars from Uncle Sam
The staff of the Atlanta office of Federal Contractor Compliance
will present "Federal Employment Compliance Guidelines - What
Employers Need To Know"
Employers doing business with the Federal government must comply
with the laws and regulations requiring non-discrimination.
Employment opportunities generated by Federal dollars should be
available to all Americans on an equitable and fair basis.
The seminar spells out the details and runs from 9:30 am to 3:30
pm at the Columbus Technical College Library, Room 600.

Sunday, March 29 - Unity Service with the theme
"Celebrating Togetherness"
At 5:00 pm on Sunday, Pastor Larry Biggers from Northside Chapel
and Rev. Roy Plummer, of the Faith Tabernacle Community Church
will co-host the 9th Annual Unity Service at the
Faith Tabernacle at 1603 Floyd Road. The purpose of the service
is to "come together to celebrate the work that God is doing in
our hearts" as well as "celebrate the importance of our civic
leaders as ordained of God through the sanction of the public to
serve the welfare of man."

Wednesday, April 8 - Race Relations Breakfast to review
"More Than Just Race"
In trying to describe why the poor stay poor, Harvard
sociologist William Julius Wilson in his book "More Than Just
Race," recaps 20 years of research done by himself and many of
his colleagues to make a convincing case that both institutional
and systemic impediments and cultural deficiencies keep poor
blacks from escaping poverty and the ghetto.
A discussion of the book will be the program on Wednesday, April
8 at the 7:25am Race Relations Breakfast. Tne main library has
some copies, (call before going), but the book is available on
Amazon.com.
The Race Relations Breakfasts are held at Ruth Ann's on
Veterans Parkway. Breakfast begins at 7:25am. $6.00 is asked of
regular members. First timers and visitors are our guests.
