Mentoring Program
This activity was a 2006 educational effort of One Columbus with
the Wynnton Arts Academy.
National Family Week
recognizes families and businesses that are family-friendly
during Thanksgiving Week each November and is co-sponsored by
the Family Center, The Resource Center, The Chamber of Commerce,
and One Columbus., Inc.
Race Relations Breakfasts – SOUTH
were
started in September, 2006 and were held the first and third
Wednesday of each month to provide an alternate date to the
second and fourth Wednesday breakfasts. Discussions were on
current issues affecting the community – particularly as they
relate to race and diversity. These sessions were held at
Andrea’s Comfort Foods, 520 Brennan Road. They were discontinued
in December, 2006 to help grow the sessions held the second and
fourth Wednesdays at Ruth Ann’s on Veterans Parkway.
Columbus
State CSU/CCG Servant Leadership/Cultural
Diversity Seminars is a special course for law
enforcement officials that operates for three days a month at
the University's Command Center. Jointly sponsored by Columbus
State University and the Columbus Consolidated Government, this
course was designed to educate participants about best practices
for dealing with diverse populations.
The
seminar series ran from June 2004 for 12 months and touched over
400 leaders and members of the law enforcement community in and
beyond the Chattahoochee Valley.
Led
by Colonel John Latty under the leadership of Dr. Archie Raney
at Columbus State University’s Justice Administration
Outreach, this activity had superior ratings by program
participants and received the support of the Columbus
Consolidated Government.
WTVM/One
Columbus Weekly franchise
is a joint venture between WTVM and One Columbus to show some of
the positive events and activities that are going on in the
Chattahoochee Valley. The One Columbus segment is hosted
by Cheryl Renee and is seen each Monday during the 6:00 PM
News Leader 9 segment.
